Despite Beardies being a long lived breed in the main, I had to part with my dear Magbag this morning. She was only 9.
For the past week or so, she had been progressively slower with her eating. Still finishing off, just not as fast as usual. Altho she was otherwise normal, I knew there was something wrong. When I felt her abdomen, I could feel a mass by her stomach. X-rays and scans supported this, and finally today, on a laparotomy my suspicions were confirmed. I didn't let her recover from the anaesthetic.
We all love our dogs, and to each of us our own dogs are the best, and I'm afraid I'm no different when it comes to mine.
Maggie was such a sweet dear dog, she never put a foot wrong, and was never anything but a loving personality and a wonderful ambassador for our breed.
She has taught me such a lot about Beardies, and has given me more than I could ever hope for in her daughter Bobbie. She was a doting mother, and a doting grandmother. When Bobbie's litter was born, she was in there cleaning and feeding the pups as if they were her own. And even at 9 years, she would still romp up and down the garden with her grandson Louie.
So many lovely memories to cherish.
One day, I'll see you again at the 'Bridge' sweetheart.
